Great post and comment thread on a fascinating company!! The operating model is fascinating – it would be interesting to see how they obtained minimum efficient scale in the first place… thanks for everything!!!

Hey Charlotte… not sure what happened to my previous comment!!! Love the post…

Great post and thread!! Zara is a true classic in how it does this. We used to do a case on it in RCTOM. Thank you for sharing!!!

Nordstrom is definitely the classic!!! They do indeed also have a strong digital strategy. I use their mobile a[pp all the time…

Whoa. I had no idea. Cool post. I love the “meta” questions – how in the world can an organization screw up this badly. And Canada is not Outer Mongolia, right? We should know how to do this. I need to do a case on this!!!

Great post and thread. Love to see what they are doing. Thanks for sharing!!!

On December 14, 2015, Marco Iansiti commented on Bain & Company: A people-oriented approach to driving impact :

Great post and fascinating thread… I think the consulting model has survived many transformations, but its environment is changing really fast. It just seems that there should be a way to drive additional efficiency in the staffing model and in the IP that is captured by the consulting firms. Will Google and Facebook start hiring consultants? Do you think Bain is flexible enough to drive serious internal transformation???

Very cool post… will have to check it out as I am currently looking for a watch, after abandoning my relatively lame Apple Watch!! Here is a truly mechanical company that is doing great…

On December 14, 2015, Marco Iansiti commented on Bloomberg: From Financial Markets to Acquisition Targets :

Cool post. Bloomberg is truly a classic in establishing network effects and using the resulting advantage to drive significant rents (e.g. the bloody terminals… 🙂 ). It’s a great example. Do you think some of the startup buisinesses attempting to replace it have a shot?

cool post on a fascinating company. Interesting model for sure. I wonder if Bitcoin will ever make this kind of thing obsolete… not sure…

Awesome blog on a great company… timing a little funny given what just happened in one of the Boston locations… do you think the operating model may be somehow to blame or is it only a random event?

On December 14, 2015, Marco Iansiti commented on How NOT to run an airline : AirIndia :

Great blog. I have taken Air India myself and I have to say I totally concur with the assessment!!! It’s kind of amazing … Airlines in general are a challenging industry, and turning something like this around seems almost impossible. It might make more sense to shut this down and start from scratch? If Tata really wants it back I would totally sell this… wouldn’t you?

On December 14, 2015, Marco Iansiti commented on Azimo – The Future of Remittances :

Great post. Interesting company… I wonder if anyone is using Bitcoin for this kind of thing? Maybe too much variability… could essentially get fees down to 0

Cool blog on a great organization. Thank you for sharing. Does WFL work in any other geographic region except Haiti?

Interesting blog – and an interesting company. Seems like the operating model for WFM is getting strained by other , more efficient solutions… might explain the efficiency improvements…

Fascinating company and amazing operational model. Probably one of the hardest things to scale – ever. I would love to see them succeed, but it’s going to be a long and hard battle!

Great post on a fantastic company. What an interesting organization and business model. We have a pretty close relationship between HBS and NASA and know for a fact they are super impressed.

On December 13, 2015, Marco Iansiti commented on WeWork: How can shared office space be valued at $10bn? :

Great post on a fascinating company. One wonders if structures like that will dramatically lessen what is actually needed to define what a company is… I wonder – do they have the scale to cluster occupants by industry focus? It might have interesting implications.

On December 13, 2015, Marco Iansiti commented on MinuteClinic – Aligning towards convenience :

Great post! This industry is transforming so fast, and in different directions, from concierge doctors to CVS health clinics. It would be interesting to see if on the whole the lower end models (e.g., the Toyota’s of the space) might actually end up being more reliable… not sure…

On December 13, 2015, Marco Iansiti commented on Jet.com – What is the price of disruption? :

Awesome blog… what an interesting company, facing some incredibly tough competition. I am super excited to see what happens next but I can’t say I am optimistic… sounds a bit like a price war, and scale usually wins.
