One factor in which we will need to evaluate additive manufacturing by is the impact on the environment, especially given the impact manufacturing has on global warming today. While 3D printing may require less transpiration, the energy needed per unit produced is higher. In addition much of 3D printing uses plastics which can end up in the oceans or landfills and sit for centuries. Whether 3D printing can become greener is a critical area of focus going forward.

Thank you again for this insightful article.

While I am concerned space offers a very limited market as pointed out by nicivey, I think the applications of this technology are applicable beyond space ships and could be helpful in other hard to reach areas like submarines. The key will be to maintain patents so others cannot easily replicate the solution offering.

Me – Thank you so much for sharing this, Ginger.io is an incredibly interesting product offering for the mental health space and a competing product to the topic of my submission, Mindstrong Health.

The suggested change to include additional data sets such as social media is one point that I believe merits additional discussion. I would be concerned about machines evaluating content rather than just how we engage with content. False positives can easily arise if we start to evaluate content as well so this would have to be monitored carefully. I would also be concerned users would not want to adopt the product if they were monitored on the content they viewed?

Ginger.io is an exciting product in a competitive space and can play a meaningful opportunity in improving the massive mental health problem.

Thanks for this insightful submission on the UNHCR! I agree with Brett and Sal that their are a few key stakeholders, notably governments, that must buy in to open innovation as a potential help to the ongoing refugee crisis. Distilling the many open sourced ideas into a form that is digestible for governments to institute change seems to be a key challenge that if overcome could help governments gather and implement from refugees. One way to do that might be to create a digital solution that would allows refugees to not only present ideas but vote on ideas they agree with. This could help elevate the most persuasive refugee positions to governments effectively?

Thank you for this interesting submission on Raízen. As i reflect on the submission, one key question I have is how the company manages the potential conflict of incubating a startup which has products that are disruptive to Raízen’s existing product set? I wonder how Raízen could address this and if this potential conflict would lead promising start ups to not enter the Pulse Hub program?

AJB, while i agree with your comments, please note my name is Kentucky “Freud” Chicken not Fried Chicken. I would not want to be confused with the Colonel Sanders.

Thank you for this interesting submission on Square Capital. While I think Square could pose a threat to traditional banks that dominate lending in the Small Business segment, it seems that online lenders share of the total lending market has stagnated in recent years at around 11%. One question is how will Square market this product to drive further industry penetration? https://www.fundera.com/blog/state-of-business-lending-q3-2017

I think the applications of machine learning for square is going to be most applicable in taking share from businesses that already have a large presence in online lending. An example of a product I could see Square taking a significant share from is a Merchant Cash advance, such as those offered by non bank lenders such as Fora Financial. This product offers customers a large cash payment upfront, in exchange for a portion of their daily revenue.

Thank you for sharing this excellent submission. While I too believe mapping the human genome unlocks incredible potential, I also believe we should all be very worried about the ethical considerations that come with us dictating our genetic make up. While a simple issue may seem to pass legislation limiting the edits to the genome that can be made, this may be very difficult to enforce, especially because there is no international governing body with jurisdiction. While mapping the genome is a major scientific advancement, the ethical concerns around gene editing are significant and merit additional thought.
