Great comment Patrick.
I love how Warby Parker has revolutionized the industry, however I can’t help but wonder how this model can work in other countries where shipping is not as cheap and not as easy. I would like to see how they expand to other markets and how they adapt their operating model to still fit their original business model. In the meantime, can’t wait to try their services myself!!

Great post on hotel chains’ biggest threat!! When I think of Airbnb I can’t help but compare it to uber, I find both business models to be very similar in every aspect. However, it still surprises me how Uber can charge a 20% commission to drivers for a very similar service when Airbnb charges only 3%. I believe that the fact that Airbnb just charges 3%, makes it an even more sustainable business in the long run. One that will not anger its partners (homeowners) as uber has done with its drivers. To me, this is more evidence of the close alignment between Airbnb’s business and operating models.

May: I loved how you laid out Starbucks’ operating model. I absolutely agree that one of the most important strengths that Starbucks has is the procurement of its coffee beans. I believe that without this crucial process, the company would not be able to provide the consistent experience to its customers for which it is appreciated. I am very curious to see how Starbucks will manage further expansion. In Mexico, Chile, Argentina and Colombia for example, they have divested their shares in Starbucks local companies and have left those operations for other companies to manage.
